USCCB Statement on U.S. Supreme Court Ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson June 24, 2022 WASHINGTON - In response to the Supreme Court of the United States issuing its ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and Archbishop William E. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, some abortion advocates are calling for nationwide demonstrations, disruptions of church services, and the personal intimidation of specific Supreme Court justices. On August 6 of last year, I lifted many of the COVID-19 precautions instituted in the Diocese of Biloxi. Since then, much progress has been made in controlling the spread of the virus. I am now lifting all other remaining cautionary provisions with the exception of making hand sanitizer available for everyone entering parish buildings and regular cleaning of holy water fonts/stoups.
