The definition of anamnesis is to make a past event become present now. This is why, as Catholics, we can say that the bread and wine actually become the Body and Blood of Christ. Not because we made it up, but because Jesus said so himself. In his own words, Jesus said that when one of you (the twelve apostles who become priests on Holy Thursday and later ordained other priests) do this, you will make the moment of my offering on the Cross present and real.
I look at the families who choose to be plugged into each other’s lives, and even more importantly, into their relationship with God, and something is very different. There is a peace that cannot be gained by just keeping things afloat.
