With the blessing of Most Reverend Louis F. Kihneman and the Office of Youth Ministry, the Diocese of Biloxi is pleased to announce we will be working with Newman Connection to implement a High School Outreach Program. We will be connecting our High School graduates at Parish level as well as Catholic High Schools, in order to connect 100% of our youth to their campus ministry on Colleges across the United States.
Newman Connection is a non-profit organization working with our campus ministries, as well as with campuses nationwide. They use a referral system to connect graduating high school students to their Catholic campus ministry. This allows campus ministers to contact their incoming students, inviting them in before they arrive on campus, regardless of what Dioceses they come from. It is my hope that you will dedicate the necessary time and resources in assisting us in this mission to keep our students connected to the Catholic Church. Newman Connection will be sending your parish a packet, and it is important that you follow up on the information provided.
As you know, College graduates, who have been active in campus ministry, are more likely to attend Mass, to volunteer for leadership roles in parishes once they return to your parish from College, and to consider religious vocations. We diligently work to serve those Catholic Youth attending the Campuses in our own Diocese. As part of our pastoral responsibility, we want to support these students as they embark on this next step in their lives. This would include not only our own Diocesan Youth, but also those attending campuses here from other Dioceses.
I am excited about our partnership with Newman Connection to help our graduating high school student’s transition to college life. The youth of our parishes are the future of our Diocese!
You can register a free account through the Newman Connection as a youth or youth minister/volunteer in your parish. http://www.newmanconnection.com/
