It's important for you and your spouse to spend some time together prayerfully
discerning the sacrament of marriage. After completion of the Natural Family Planning and Sponsor Couple segments of marriage preparation it is recommended that you attend an “Engaged Encounter” weekend retreat. Please note that your retreat should be scheduled early in the marriage preparation process as weekends may fill up quickly and individual work schedules can be difficult to work around.

The Engaged Encounter Weekend retreats are offered in the three surrounding
dioceses (New Orleans, Mobile and Jackson). The deacon and/or priest assisting in your preparation will help guide you to the retreat that best fits your needs. To help you select a retreat time and location, a schedule of upcoming retreats is given in the document download section below.
