“When I was going to apply for the seminary, I could have applied for New Orleans, Biloxi, or Mobile; but I chose Biloxi because that was – and is – home. It was in high school that my prayer life began to grow. I attended “Celebration”, the diocesan youth convention in Biloxi and immediately became involved, learning how to pray and grow into my Catholic faith. Because of this experience, I plan to be involved with youth groups and youth conventions, to bring our young people in the diocese to a life of deeper prayer. Your gift to the CSA not only supports seminarian education, but our youth groups, which when I was young, broadened and opened my heart to hear the sound of the Holy Spirit in my life.
My pastoral year at Sacred Heart in Hattiesburg helped me learn the life of priesthood. Priesthood is walking with the suffering and dying, ministering to both the youth and elderly, preaching to all walks of life, going with the youth to the March for Life, and everything in between. Priesthood is loving those whom no one loves or prays for, and being a spiritual father to everyone. I know the Lord has called me to serve as a priest for the Diocese of Biloxi, and I am very much looking forward to serving the people of Biloxi as an ordained minister.” - Adam Frey
In the Catholic Church, the diaconate is the first of three ranks in ordained ministry. Deacons preparing for the priesthood are transitional deacons. Those not planning to be ordained priests are permanent deacons. Your support of the CSA provides resources and education to those interested in the diaconate as well as our eight seminarians that have been called by the Lord to serve our diocese.
